Remedial Massage
Remedial massage alleviates the pain and discomfort from physical injury, strain or stress. It improves mobility and flexibility and facilitates the removal of body toxins. It is beneficial for everyone but especially for physically active people. Also available using Hot Stones!
Relaxation Massage
Stress can be the fundamental cause of our sense of "unwellness" and can lead to illness. The Ancient Chinese said that disease was caused by congestion and wellness was the result of circulation (this was written six thousand years ago). Relaxation massage is both firm and gentle, releasing tension and leaving you feeling re-balanced in mind and body. It is suitable for anyone, anytime!
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a specific technique that utilises heavy pressure to release places that hold the tension in the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It relaxes, loosens and lengthens the muscle fibres. Deep tissue massage is especially suitable for people with poor posture and for those who sit at a desk all day.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
In Lymphatic Drainage the therapist applies pressure to the lymphatic system at certain points on the body. This stimulates the blood flow, releases wastes and toxins and strengthens the body's immune response by stimulating the lymphatic system. MLD reduces swelling and is especially beneficial for women who have had breast surgery.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage can prevent injuries and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue and boost performance. Deep massage enables fluids and nutrients to pass through tissue membrane. This helps remove waste products such as lactic acid and encourages the muscles to take up oxygen and nutrients, helping them recover quickly. Stretching techniques release muscle tension and improve muscle elasticity. Tension and waste products in muscles can often cause pain. Massage helps reduce this in many ways including releasing the body's endorphins.
Hahana Hot Stone Massage
With this massage the therapist uses heated smooth volcanic stones and moves them in a rhythmic massage sequence over the body. The hot stones penetrate deep into the muscles dissolving tension and stress. This massage is suitable for anyone who wants to really relax.

Hawaiian Massages
Ka Huna Massage (Temple Style)
This healing system is derived from the ancient Polynesian methods of restoring balance to the body, mind and soul (Huna). Through this treatment of the physical body, powerful healing is able to take place more quickly and completely on the physical, psychological and spiritual levels. The bodywork has a beautiful way of bringing the joy of life to your body; a feeling of peace to your mind; and a sense of wonder to your soul. It also releases memories and allows change physically, mentally and spiritually, bringing them into balance and harmony. Ka Huna is Hawaiian style massage and is unique in a number of respects. The practitioner uses their hands, forearms and elbows and moves around the table (using Tai Chi style movements) working with energy and vibrational tones over the body, while applying soft and deep tissue massage. Special music is played and the practitioner attunes the flow of the massage to harmonise the various rhythms within the client's body-mind-soul. It is a very energising massage and is especially beneficial for releasing emotional blockages or for speeding up recovery. A truly wonderful and transformational experience! Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian name for massage)
Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for massage. This is a healing system which brings balance, restoration and heart-opening peace to the body. The Heartworks Lomi Lomi method is a form of healing therapy that has its roots firmly planted in the intuitive or spiritual core of bodywork. Lomi Lomi is derived from ancient Polynesian methods of healing. This flowing style of Hawaiian bodywork includes long fluid rhythmic strokes over the whole body with the hands (we use the hands as a tool of the heart) creating a dance like movement. This combined with deep breathing leaves the client in a state of peace. Energy blockages are released allowing spirit, circulation, oxygen and life flow through mind and body. On all levels there is unity.
Pregnancy Massage
This massage can reduce oedema (swelling) and blood pressure, relieve pain from varicose veins, and increase blood and lymph circulation. It relieve stress on weight-bearing joints (ankles, lower back, pelvis) and reduce musculoskeletal strain and assists with cramps. This massage will reduce stress and promote a greater sense of relaxation, facilitate transitions through emotional support and physical nurturing. Recommended from 12 weeks right through to labour.
Reflexology
Reflexology is based on the principle that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. These parts, known as reflex points, are found on the soles of the feet. Reflexology is a non-intrusive technique, healing indirectly and works on many levels, soothing, calming, balancing and boosting the entire body. It is especially beneficial for treating back pain, digestive difficulties, premenstrual and menstrual irregularities.
Shiatsu Therapy
Shiatsu is a Japanese body therapy that reminds the body of its innate healing process. It is based on the theory of acupuncture, incorporating principles of anatomy, physiology and pathology. Shiatsu therapy involves thumb, palm and forearm pressure applied to the meridians and pressure points, combined with gentle stretches and rotations. It is especially effective in reducing stress and alleviating an array of symptoms including headaches and migraines, neck, shoulder and back pain, low energy, menstrual problems, asthma, digestive problems and weight issues, injuries and muscular pain. This massage is undertaken fully clothed, on a futon mattress on the floor.
