Personalised Care.
For over two decades, Sandy Bay Massage has been providing professional massage therapy in Hobart, helping people relieve pain, reduce tension and take time to properly unwind. During that time we have built a reputation for thoughtful care, experienced therapists and treatments that are tailored to the individual.
Our team of qualified therapists offer a wide range of massage treatments including remedial, deep tissue, relaxation and specialised therapies. Each session is guided by what your body needs on the day — whether that’s targeted work to address muscular discomfort and postural tension, or a slower treatment designed to help you fully relax.
We believe massage should never feel rushed or routine. Every treatment begins with a short consultation so your therapist can understand your needs and tailor the session accordingly. Our approach combines professional knowledge with attentive care, ensuring you receive a treatment that is both effective and deeply restorative.
Whether you’re seeking relief from persistent tension, support during recovery, or simply time to step away from the demands of everyday life, our aim is the same — to help you leave feeling better than when you arrived.
Our qualifications and professional memberships ensure you receive safe, recognised treatment.
As members of Massage & Myotherapy Australia and the Australian Traditional Medicine Society, our therapists maintain recognised professional standards in massage therapy.
We also offer HICAPS on-the-spot claiming for private health care funds allowing eligible clients to process their private health rebates instantly.

We understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances may arise, but we kindly request that you provide us with at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the time slot to other clients who may be waiting. If you fail to provide at least 24 hours’ notice or do not show up for your scheduled appointment, we reserve the right to charge you full fee for the session.
Relaxation massage focuses on helping you switch off. It uses gentle, flowing techniques to calm the nervous system, reduce stress and leave you feeling refreshed.
Remedial massage is more targeted. Your therapist will assess areas of tension, pain or injury and use specific techniques to help release tight muscles, improve movement and support recovery.
Both treatments are tailored to you, sometimes a session may even include elements of both.
Absolutely. Our therapists regularly work with clients at all stages of pregnancy.
We use a specialised pregnancy support mat that fits onto the massage table, with a comfortable opening for your belly. This allows many clients to safely enjoy a face-down massage well into their pregnancy.
If you’re in your first trimester, just let your therapist know so they can adjust the treatment to suit your stage of pregnancy.
Both Ka Huna and Lomi Lomi are inspired by traditional Hawaiian bodywork and are known for their long, flowing strokes and rhythmic movements that encourage deep relaxation.
Ka Huna massage often uses the therapist’s forearms and sweeping, dance-like movements across the body. Many people find it both nurturing and energising.
Lomi Lomi massage typically has a slower, more meditative rhythm, creating a deeply calming experience that encourages the body and mind to fully unwind.
Your first visit begins with a short consultation so your therapist can understand your health history, areas of tension, and what you’d like to get from the treatment.
They’ll explain the approach before beginning, and you’ll be professionally draped throughout the session for comfort and privacy. You’re always welcome to let your therapist know if you’d like more or less pressure, or if anything feels uncomfortable.
Our goal is to create a treatment that feels both effective and relaxing from start to finish.
Your body will often continue responding to the treatment for several hours afterwards. A few simple things can help you get the most from your session:
Stay hydrated – Drinking water or herbal tea can help you feel refreshed and support normal recovery.
Keep moving gently – A light walk or some gentle stretching can help maintain mobility and prevent muscles from tightening again.
Use warmth if needed – A warm shower or bath can help keep muscles relaxed and comfortable.
Take it easy – If possible, allow yourself some time to rest and let your body fully settle after the treatment.
We’re at 72 Sandy Bay Road, Battery Point. There’s convenient parking at the rear of our building. We’re easily accessible from anywhere in Southern Tasmania.
Wear comfortable clothing you can easily remove. You’ll be professionally draped with towels throughout your treatment. For some treatments like sports massage, we may work through light clothing if you prefer.

Yes, gentle movement is usually beneficial. Activities like walking, light stretching or gentle yoga can help keep the body mobile and maintain the benefits of your treatment.
If you’ve had deeper remedial work, it’s best to avoid intense exercise or heavy lifting for the rest of the day. Listening to your body and easing back into activity is always the best guide.
